Kentra can provide a (RASWA) Safety at Street and Roadworks training course, for novice candidates through to experienced operators and the course registered by ourselves or with an awarding body if required.

Course Content
Health & Safety Act 1974 and other relevant legislation
New roads & street works act 1991 and ACOP
Chapter 8 of the DOT traffic signs manual
Basic principals for safe street works
Pre operational equipment checks
Prepare work area
Site layout, equipment needed, sign lighting & reflectorisation
Traffic control, foot ways, prepare 30mph carriageways, 40mph carriageways & dual carriageways
Working near pedestrian crossings, road junctions, level crossings, and roundabouts and other layouts e.g. T junctions
End of shift checks

Course Requirements

Prior to coming on the course the candidate should have been issued with and have studied the ‘Safety at Street Works & Road Works’ a code of practice booklet available from The Stationery Office
On-site Resources
A room suitable for lecturing and for the use of our audio-visual equipment, chairs and desk for the use by the trainee and instructor would be appreciated.
The activities are undertaken either on-site or a realistic simulated site.

A full set of temporary signing and guarding for works on a road or foot way.
2 x Roadworks, 2 x End, 2 x Road Narrows, 2 x Keep Left / Right, 4 x Barrier Cones,
8 x Rails, 24 Cones, 1 x Stop & Go. • Temporary Traffic signals.

Delegates will be expected to provide their own PPE.

Certification & Validation
This course can be registered with different awarding bodies if required, or simply a Kentra card ~ as a registered training provider we can supply a plastic ID card as proof of training, suitable for the HSE and insurances.

If an awarding body validation is required we will need to notify them prior to the course, so please mention this when booking.

Candidates successfully completing this course will receive one of the following certifications:
