Introduction
Kentra Training can provide an NPORS Instructor Course, for both novice and instructors transferring from other Accrediting Schemes. The first step is to contact NPORS, this is a link to their web page Click Here.  Once NPORS have approved the training you will be able to attend one of the following NPORS Instructor course’s.

We specialise in providing on-site training and this course will be delivered using a mixture of both classroom based tutorial and practical machine operating, testing and a final course assessment.

Delegate Eligibility / Entry Requirements
Entry Criteria – Novice instructors

● Have 2 years’ operating experience in the last 5 years in relevant industry
● For Lift Truck or Plant categories successfully complete the NPORS 10 day Instructional Techniques Course
● For non-Lift Truck or non-Plant categories successfully complete the NPORS 5 day Instructional Techniques Course
● Provide accredited, current supporting evidence for each category applied for
● Hold an approved Health and Safety qualification (Plant Instructors mandatory)
● Hold an accredited First Aid certificate (Plant Instructors mandatory)
● Provide a current C.V. showing career history and relevant industry experience

Novice Instructor course ratio:
4 Candidates: 1 Instructor, Duration: 10 Days

Entry Criteria – instructors transferring from other Accrediting Schemes

Existing instructors who wish to become registered with NPORS must hold the appropriate qualifications and experience necessary to train and assess operators

NPORS Instructor criteria, all applicants must:
● Provide proof of Instructional Techniques qualifications from other accrediting body
● Have 2 years’ operating experience in the last 5 years in relevant industry
● Provide a current C.V. outlining industry experience
● Provide evidence for each category applied for
● Hold an approved health and safety qualification (Plant Instructors mandatory)
● Hold a current accredited First Aid certificate (Plant Instructors mandatory)
● Have not been disqualified from other Accrediting Bodies within the last 5 years
● Successfully complete a NPORS 5 day bridging course

Existing Instructor course ratio:
4 Candidates: 1 Instructor, Duration: 5 Days

Objectives
These courses are intended for instructors who wish to obtain registration and certification to enable them to carry out NPORS instruction on various machines / courses depending their experience and certification.

At the conclusion of this course, successful instructors or instructor/examiners will have satisfactorily completed the various practical assessments and multi choice theoretical papers.

Candidates on the course should be good communicators, with a outgoing personality and a keen interest in providing instruction to others.
A good knowledge of written and spoken English is required.

Course Content
● Candidate pre assessment and briefing including operator test to instructor level
● Basic instructional techniques
● Roles and responsibilities of an instructor
● Health and safety at work act 1974 etc including ACOP L117,
● PUWER 1998 and LOLER 1998.
● Session planning and delivery

Course Requirements
A room for the theory session, which will be used daily throughout the duration of the course
A safe area for the practical sessions on the machine of choice (this will be pre-approved by NPORS) the area will need to be suitable criteria for the operating test requirements.

A minimum of 4 weeks notice is required by NPORS, so they can allocate an examiner to monitor the final day of the course.

Delegates will be expected to provide their own PPE, where required.
All machinery to be in good working order.

Certification & Validation
This NPORS Instructor course is certificated by NPORS. They are a nationally recognised awarding body and you will be required to comply with they terms, conditions and policies following your assessment. Our instructor will take the candidates picture during training, which will appear on their NPORS Instructor card.

Candidates successfully completing this course will receive:
● NPORS Instructor course card validation and plastic (credit card size) ID card

Candidates will need to pay an NPORS annual registration fee, and the award will need to be refreshed at 5 yearly intervals.
