To provide the practical skills and the operating safety knowledge necessary for operators to correctly prepare, safely operate and maintain a Container Handler Lift Truck (ACOP117)

Course Content
Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 1998, LOLER 1998 and other relevant legislation.
Operators safety code and site safety
Battery maintenance & charging procedures
Pre Operational checks
Factors affecting stability
Motive controls
Hydraulic controls
Manoeuvring in open & confined areas and rough terrain if applicable
Stacking and de-stacking
External transport loaded & unloaded

Counterbalance container handler (ABA Group G2)

Side Loader container handler (ABA Group G3)

Telescopic container handler (ABA Group G4)

Rough Terrain container handler (ABA Group G5)

Course Requirements

A room for the theory session and a safe area for the practical session.

Bulk for stacking – 20’ & 40’ containers to a minimum of 4 stacks high

Any attachments if required.

None mandatory elements

A Banksman, and it can be certified that you have controlled the machine under the control of a Banksman.

An external vehicle i.e. lorry / trailer etc with 20’ & 40’ containers to be loaded and unloaded, if appropriate.

The Instructor is required to see the machine/equipment’s LOLER certificate before commencement of the course.

Certification & Validation

This course can be registered with different awarding bodies if required, or simply a Kentra card – as a registered training provider we can supply a plastic ID card as proof of training, suitable for the HSE and insurances.

If an awarding body validation is required we will need to notify them prior to the course, so please mention this when booking.
Candidates successfully completing this course will receive one of the following certifications:

Kentra validation and plastic ID card

ITSSAR certificate / licence

NPORS registration and plastic ID card N012 Container Handler training course.
