Kentra can provide a Manual Handling training course, we offer both half day course which can be registered by ourselves or with an awarding body if required. Also a full day option which covers the correct lifting techniques and is certified by ourselves.

On-line Courses – At Kentra we are in a unique position to be able to offer both on-line courses and practical assessments which can be completed together, giving the candidate the most comprehensive training package available.

Half day course
Aim
To identify and learn correct lifting techniques in order to minimise injury
Candidates will have a basic understanding of correct manual handling techniques

Course Content
The course consists of the following elements:
Introduction to and the principles of kinetics
Film on the principles of lifting and how to avoid stress related injuries
Demonstrations and supervised lifting & handling of clients
Handling clients with special needs

Full Day Course
Aim
To identify and learn correct lifting techniques in order to minimise injury and stress to the human frame.
Candidates will have a theoretical and practical understanding of the correct methods of handling clients

Course Content
The course consists of the following elements:
The principles of handling techniques
The cause of injury and stress to the human frame
Prevention of repetitive strain injuries
Correct techniques for normal lifting
Correct techniques for lifting clients with special needs
Practical exercises
The importance of using protective clothing and mechanical aids when lifting or moving clients

Course Requirements
A room for the theory session and a safe area for the practical session.

Certification & Validation
Candidates successfully completing this course will receive one of the following certifications:

Half day certificate
Kentra validation and plastic ID card

NPORS registration and plastic ID card N704 Manual Handling training course

Full day certificate
Kentra Manual Handling (inc Practical) validation and plastic ID card
