Ratio

Novice: 1 Machine: 3 Candidates: 1 Instructor, Duration:  1 – 3 Days

Refresher and Test: 1 Machine: 3 Candidates: 1 Instructor, Duration:  1 Day

Experienced Worker Test (EWT): 1 Machine:  6 Candidates: 1 Instructor: 1 Day

EWT 3 + 3 Combination of tests is available for this category (i.e 3 experienced candidates can be tested on a skid steer loader and 1 other machine for example an Excavator, dumper or loading shovel) Duration: 1 Day

Aim
To provide the practical skills and the operating safety knowledge necessary to train operators to correctly prepare, safely operate and correctly maintain a skid steer loader.

Course Content
Introduction to the course
Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 1998, LOLER 1998 and other relevant legislation.
Basic operation and controls
Setting up to dig, and re-setting for traveling
Pre-shift checks before operating
Safe Working Loads (SWL)
Practical operations load and unloading using dumper/dumper truck, lorry etc with material
Build a spoil heap
Attachments
End of shift

Course Requirements
A room for the theory session and a safe area for the practical session, with use of the skid steer loader. A machine to load into i.e. Dumper or trailer etc.  Materials to create a spoil heap.

The Instructor is required to see the machine/equipment’s LOLER certificate (if applicable) before commencement of the course.

Certification & Validation
This course can be registered with different awarding bodies if required, or simply a Kentra card – as a registered training provider we can supply a plastic ID card as proof of training, suitable for the HSE and insurances.

If an awarding body validation is required we will need to notify them prior to the course, so please mention this when booking.
Candidates successfully completing this course will receive one of the following certifications:
