Our course covers among others, being able to identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions and how they all contribute to the safety and operational integrity of the machine. The major components being power units, drive controls, remote control systems, transmissions, hydraulic systems, chassis, steering, tracks, outriggers, rams, counterweights, hoisting gear, jib, booms, attachments, ropes, safety systems and types of RCI ans LMI, distance indicators, stability etc.

After covering the health and safety and pre-shift checks, we would go through carrying out the load checks, liaising with a slinger/signaller for the lifting plan – including reading and understanding of the lifting plan. Agreeing the signal code. Deploying the amazing Spider Crane out riggers. Before operating the crane and carrying out tasks as instructed. Finishing with the end of shift tasks, to prepare for travel.

We really enjoy testing on this brilliant little machine, for a full course syllabus please follow this link to our Crane page.
