Kentra can provide a Safe Use of Ladder training course, which can be registered by ourselves or with an awarding body if required.


10 Candidates: 1 Instructor, Duration: 1/2 Day

To make users of ladders and steps (and their Managers and Supervisors) aware of Safe methods of use, likely risks during use, precautions to be taken and the need for inspection

Course Content
Health & Safety legislation & guidance, including: Health & safety at Work Act, 1974
Selection, inspection and use of ladders
Correct use of ladders/ safe systems of work, including:
Securing of ladders.  Suitable conditions for the ladder.  Correct ladder angles.
Ladder sections- correct overlap.  Climbing and lifting of loads on ladders.
Working on ladders. Storage of ladders and carrying & transporting ladders.
Common hazards & how to control them.
Requirements for inspection of ladders.
Risk assessments and permits.
Accident prevention.

Course Requirements
A room for the theory session and a safe area for the practical session, using a selection of ladders and steps.

Certification & Validation
This course can be registered with different awarding bodies if required, or simply a Kentra card – as a registered training provider we can supply a plastic ID card as proof of training, suitable for the HSE and insurances.

If an awarding body validation is required we will need to notify them prior to the course, so please mention this when booking.
Candidates successfully completing this course will receive one of the following certifications:

Kentra validation and plastic ID card

NPORS registration and plastic ID card N711 Safe Use of Ladder training course.

Ladder training course

We can deliver many types of Working at Heights courses, if you would like to discuss the different programmes available please Contact us. This is a half day course and we can therefore deliver one course in the morning and one in the afternoon or alternatively provide 2 different half day courses (i.e. one Ladders + 1 Harness course)
