What Manual Handling Training Covers:
  1. Risk Assessment:
    • Training begins with an understanding of the risks associated with manual handling tasks. Employees learn how to identify hazards in their work environment and assess the risks associated with lifting, carrying, and other manual handling activities.
  2. Correct Techniques:
    • Employees are taught the correct techniques for lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects safely. This includes maintaining a neutral spine, bending at the knees, and using the legs rather than the back to lift.
  3. Equipment Usage:
    • Training may also cover the use of manual handling aids and equipment, such as trolleys, lifting belts, and hoists. Employees learn how to select and use the appropriate equipment for different manual handling tasks.
