NPORS Counterbalance
As many of you know Kentra Training was established in 1997 by Norman Kennish. Straight away the company registered with NPORS as a training provider. Our registration is number 66 and we are now one of the longest serving TP’s with them, delivering nearly 100 different training courses, including our own unique NPORS Small Plant and Portable Tools course and also the NPORS Counterbalance, which is what this blog is about.
NPORS have a lot of different courses for lift truck training courses available, Kentra can deliver them all either as on-site training or the Counterbalance and Pallet trucks from our training centre in Middlewich.
N001 Counterbalanced Lift Truck
N009 Rough Terrain Lift Truck
N010 Telescopic Handler (Loadall)
N135 Multi Directional Lift Truck
Most of the courses above are linked to our blogs, each covering the individual course syllabuses.
We have also written a couple of blogs about general forklift truck training courses Lets talk Forklift Truck Training and What we do – Part 1 Lift Truck Training both these blogs contain more information about the training available with us.
Course Ratio’s
The following course training and testing ratios are the maximum numbers set by NPORS. They cover novice operator training and testing, through to experienced worker tests. The ratios given are based on One instructor and One machine in a standard eight hour working day. The novice course durations stated are the maximum durations recommended by the scheme, however, these durations can be extended to suit the needs of learners where appropriate.
Training durations can also be reduced due to operator experience then correct profiling must take place, and the course duration may only then be reduced once the instructor is satisfied that the operator is suitably experienced to undertake a shorter duration course.
Duration: The course duration is dependent upon the number of candidates and their experience operating the machine.
- Novice candidates : 5 days for 3 candidates. This course is for candidates who have never been tested before, includes instructor presentation and full operator training
- Refresher and Test : 1 day for 3 candidates. : This course is for candidates who have been tested before but need a bit of remedial tuition before being retested. Includes instructor presentation as above, then remedial tuition if the candidates have any bad habits etc. whilst conducting the practical assessment
- Experienced Worker Tests : 1 day for 4 candidates. This course is for experienced workers and does not include any training – this is just testing only – no tuition should be required for experienced workers.
The course durations for all the Lift Truck courses are the same. We can only mix the different Lift truck categories for experienced worker and would then keep within the maximum 4 tests per day.
Certification & Validation
Any of the above lift truck courses can be registered with our awarding body NPORS or accredited by us Kentra Training. We are a registered training provider and our cards are suitable for the HSE and insurances. Candidates successfully completing this course will receive one of the following:
- Kentra Training course validation and plastic (credit card size) ID card
- NPORS Counterbalance registration and plastic ID card
If NPORS is required we will need to notify them prior to the course, so please mention this when booking.
Our instructor will take the candidates pictures on the day of training, which will appear on their ID cards.
