We are up to the middle of the S’s as we post our series of short blogs looking at the A to Z of courses we do.   Today S is for Sideloader Lift truck, sideloaders are a piece of materials handling equipment designed for long loads. The operator’s cab is positioned up front on the left hand side. The area to the right of the cab is called the bed or platform.

Course ratios – Sideloader

The course durations, training and testing ratios are

Novices : 1 – 5 days for 3 Delegates

Refresher & Test : 1 day, up to 3 delegates

Experienced Worker Tests (EWT) : 1 day for up to 4 delegates.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the course the candidates will received a Kentra Training ID card (credit card size) detailing the course completed.

In addition, we have the option to register the training with our Awarding Body NPORS. www.npors.com   If your candidates are working offsite or on other peoples premises a recognised Awarding Body membership maybe advantageous. Prior to training we would apply to NPORS to register the course and upon successful completion of the course we would apply for the candidates 5 year membership with the NPORS scheme.

Training locations

At Kentra we have always provided on-site training, coming to you and delivering the training in your own space.

  • A room for the theory session
  • A safe area for the practical session with use of the Side Loader.
  • A seat belt must be work if stated un the employers risk assessment / method statement.
  • 3 palletised loads.
  • Candidates will be required to de-stack to three levels, High level – at least 3m, eye level and low level (where pallets are stacked at ground level)
  •  External Transport such as Lorry / Van / Trailer etc if assessment on loading and unloading if applicable.

 

  • Delegates to provide their own PPE.
  • All machinery and equipment to be in good working order and serviceable.
  • LOLER certification required.
  • Attachments can be covered on this course and detailed on your training ID card.

 

  • Candidates will need to know their Date of Birth and National Insurance number, together with a contact telephone number and email address – These are identifying factors and will never be used for marketing purposes.
