Construction Site Safety Scheme

The Construction Site Safety Scheme (CSSS) is a collection of health and safety training courses covering operative, supervisor, and management training. These courses have been developed by NPORS to support industry by providing the understanding and expertise to manage concerns including risks and environmental matters. 

All courses within the CSS Scheme have been approved and mapped by CITB allowing for grant claims and are recognised by BuildUK.

S001 Construction Safety Awareness

S001 Construction Safety Awareness

This 1-day course highlights potential hazards when working on-site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employer’s responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety are being put at risk. 

Upon completion candidates who have achieved the NPORS Site Safety Awareness Course can apply for the CSCS Green Labourers Card.

S029 Construction Site Safety Supervisor

S029 Construction Site Safety Supervisor

This 2 day course is for those who have, or are about to acquire, a supervisory role and therefore require an understanding of legal responsibilities relevant to their work.

This 5-day course is designed for all individuals responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling, and administering a workforce. Typically these would be site managers, potential site managers, supervisors, and anyone with health and safety responsibilities.

Confined Spaces

A confined space is defined as ‘a space that is not fit for human habitation’ which can be due to limited access and egress. Serious injury can occur from hazardous substances or dangerous conditions within the space or nearby. It can be any space of an enclosed nature. 

Anyone who works in confined spaces will need an understanding of the risks, protocols, and procedures related to them. Our confined spaces training courses cover the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 and The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 as well as anything else you need to know.

Comprehensive training is still important to keep people safe in low-risk confined spaces such as loft spaces, basements, cellars, or anywhere where the depth/height is below 3 metres. This course ensures that all employees have knowledge of safe working methods in low-risk environments.

As well as covering everything from the low-risk training, this course expands to address more hazardous environments which may involve dangerous conditions, low oxygen levels, or harmful substances. This course includes navigation of the Confined Space, use of Emergency Escape Sets, and operation of the Tripod and Winch.
