This series of short blogs is looking at the A to Z of courses we do. Starting with A’s we’ve covered Abrasive Wheels and now onto the Agricultural Tractor.
This tractor course covers all types of use not just for those working in the farming industry, it maybe forestry, horticulture, amenity horticulture and the sports turf industry – we’ve done lots for councils, golf clubs and country houses.
Whether you are a student, a regular tractor driver, or an employer, you need to learn about tractor safety and undertake training. The HSE is very vocal in its publications that Agriculture and Forestry has the highly accident and fatality rates, people die in tractor accidents every year and there are many major injuries,
including amputations and fractures. There are probably other accidents or near misses which HSE never hears about. At Kentra we want to help to promote safety and help prevented those kinds of accidents and incidents occurring.
Our recent features cover Let’s talk Agriculture training and What we do, part 3 covers tractors.

Accreditation
Upon successful completion of the course the candidates will received a Kentra Training ID card (credit card size) detailing the course completed.
In addition, we have the option to register the training with our Awarding Body NPORS. www.npors.com If your candidates are working offsite or on other peoples premises a recognised Awarding Body membership maybe advantageous. Prior to training we would apply to NPORS to register the course and upon successful completion of the course we would apply for the candidates 5 year membership with the NPORS scheme.
Training location
At Kentra we have always provided on-site training, coming to you and delivering the training in your own space using the equipment you are used to using.
All we require are a room for the theory session and a safe area for the practical assessment using the Tractor.
If you have a trailer or attachment, we can also include these in the test.
All equipment needs to be in good working order – the tractor must be serviceable, meet the current legislation and be fitted with a trailer for towing, 3 point linkage and operations PTO shaft suitable for attachments.
Where possible we need to travel up and down a gradient, and over varying terrain. With an area of approximately 30 meters to be able to negotiate and reverse.
