Starting with A’s we are up to All Terrain Vehicle ATV, in this series of short blogs is looking at the A to Z of courses we do.
We have three options available for the ATV training.
- ATV Sit Astride K608 a – these are the quad bike type vehicles.
- ATV Sit In K608 b – the sit in vehicles with a roof, we do a lot of these for Golf courses.
- ATV Multi Drive K608c – Argo CAT or Hagglund Type machines
Here’s a LINK to our course syllabus, the training for each of these variations is very similar – it just depends what type of vehicle you have. But remember if you have a sit in and a sit astride you will need testing on both.
Course ratios – All Terrain Vehicle ATV – K608
The course durations, training and testing ratios are
Novice Training Course : 2 days for up to 3 delegates
Refresher and Test : 1 day for up to 3 delegates
Experienced Worker Tests : 1 day for up to 6 tests (so this can be 6 delegates on one type of machine, or as we talked about above if you have more than one type of machine we can test on both for 3 candidates in the one day).
Accreditation
Upon successful completion of the course the candidates will received a Kentra Training ID card (credit card size) detailing the course completed.
We work with the HSE advises for when refresher training is due.
They recommend refresher training every 3 – 5 years, depending on the frequency of the candidates use of the knowledge. For example if the candidate is using the machinery or equipment on a daily or weekly basis they would be able to have a longer time, 5 years before a refresher is required, whereas less frequent users are 3 years.
Training locations
At Kentra we have always provided on-site training, coming to you and delivering the training in your own space using the equipment you are used to using.
For the training all we require is a room for the theory session and a safe area for the practical session.
Different ground conditions to traverse, including a slope where possible. Any attachments i.e. a trailer can also be tested. Delegates will be expected to provide their own PPE, which includes a suitable helmet, footwear and gloves. Tracks must be correctly tensioned and tyres at the correct pressures.
If loaded the load must be correctly secured using suitable securing devices.
All equipment to be in good working order.
