Last year we started our series of short blogs looking at the A to Z of training courses we do, we are up to Crane Lift Supervisor.

Crane Lift Supervisor is the level between Slinger Signaller and an Appointed Person, a role of importance ensuring that the lifting plan is being implemented and adhered to and carried out in a safe manner.

Course ratios – Crane Lift Supervisor

The course durations, training and testing ratios for the NPORS N405 are

Novice :  3 days for up to 6 delegates

Refresher and Test :  1 day for up to 6 candidates (Refresher candidates will need evidence of prior training)

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the course the candidates will received a Kentra Training ID card (credit card size) detailing the course completed.

In addition, we have the option to register the training with our Awarding Body NPORS. www.npors.com   If your candidates are working offsite or on other peoples premises a recognised Awarding Body membership maybe advantageous. Prior to training we would apply to NPORS to register the course and upon successful completion of the course we would apply for the candidates 5 year membership with the NPORS scheme.

Training locations

At Kentra we have always provided on-site training, coming to you and delivering the training in your own space using the equipment you are used to using.

We will require a room for the theory session and a safe area for the practical session with use of the crane.

Various cranes or lifting equipment can be used. i.e. Wheeled Mobile, Lorry Mounted, Tower, Crawler.

If you have any attachments these can be included in the assessment and detailed on the training card if required.

The lifting equipment used for the test must have a varying radii and slewing capacities.

The lifting capacity in excess of the loads to be lifted.

An anemometer to be used as part of the test.

Representative Loads.

Slinger signaller to liaise with and assist with the lifting operation.

LOLER certification for all equipment used for practical sessions.

All equipment to be in good working order.
