We wanted to publish a blog to send our congratulations to HM King Charles III on his coronation.  Different coronations have been covered in the media so much lately, so we thought we would take a different route.   Kentra Training is a family business, started by our Norman in February 1997 as a sole trader.  Training courses took off fast and soon there were not enough days in the week.  To help complete the paperwork and manage the administration side Tricia, Norman’s wife joined the Kentra team.  The office officially took over the home conservatory.

The partnership worked well for many years, with Kentra continuing to grow. Their son John, upon leaving university came home and seeing dad so busy decided to help out for a couple of weeks. Leading to John working as an instructor at the family business for nearly 20 years.

The office staff also grew and changed over the years too, outgrowing the conservatory. Norman was forced into losing his garage, so it could be converted into a larger office space, to house the growing Kentra team.  Quite a few years later the office was to move again, this time with a complete change of location. Coinciding with Emma, Norman’s daughter taking over the reins from Tricia, allowing her to take a step back from working in the office everyday.   We now have the two Emma’s at the helm, Emma 1 named because she will probably be the first you get to speak to, either via the phone or the main email address.  Emma 2, aptly named because of the duel role she manages to juggle effortlessly. She covers the role of both the Administration and Accounts, in addition to also being one of our NPORS Instructors.  We can’t keep her locked up in the office all the time.

Our Kentra family also spans across the NPORS Instructor network, as we have grown, we have worked with many instructors, trainers and testers all over the country and beyond the seas. This is where we draw our comparisons to the House of Windsor, the family firm and the monarch who will become head of state both here and abroad.

The House of Windsor started in 1901, when a line of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha succeeded the House of Hanover with the accession of King Edward VII. He was the son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. In 1917, the name of the British royal house was changed from the German Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, to the more English sounding name of Windsor.

Throughout this era, there have been five British monarchs of the House of Windsor, following King Edward VII came George VEdward VIIIGeorge VIElizabeth II, and now Charles III who will become the six monarch. The children and male-line descendants of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip also genealogically belong to the House of Oldenburg, since Prince Philip belonged to the Glücksburg branch of that house too.
