Lot’s of S’s to get through in our series of short blogs looking at the A to Z of courses we do, the next S in our list is Safety at Street and Roadworks.
Sometimes shortened to RASWA – this signing lighting and guarding course covers theory and practical assessments to certify the successful candidate to set out traffic lights, signs, cones and barriers, and/or supervisors setting out traffic signage.

The course durations, training and testing ratios are
1 day course for up to 8 Delegates

Training can also be conducted at our training centre in Middlewich, where we have the full RASWA course requirements, equipment and materials.
Accreditation
Upon successful completion of the course the candidates will received a Kentra Training ID card (credit card size) detailing the course completed.
In addition, we have the option to register the training with our Awarding Body NPORS. www.npors.com If your candidates are working offsite or on other peoples premises a recognised Awarding Body membership maybe advantageous. Prior to training we would apply to NPORS to register the course and upon successful completion of the course we would apply for the candidates 5 year membership with the NPORS scheme.
Training locations
At Kentra we have always provided on-site training, coming to you and delivering the training in your own space. Alternatively you can come to us at our training centre in Middlewich.
RASWA – Safety at Street and Roadworks – Signing, Guarding & Lighting.
Prior to coming on the course the candidate should have been issued with and have studied the ‘Safety at Street Works & Road Works’ a code of practice booklet available from The Stationery Office On-site Resources or

A room suitable for lecturing and for the use of our audio-visual equipment, chairs and desk for the use by the trainee and instructor would be appreciated.
The activities are undertaken either on-site or a realistic simulated site.
A full set of temporary signing and guarding for works on a road or foot way.
2 x Roadworks, 2 x End, 2 x Road Narrows, 2 x Keep Left / Right, 4 x Barrier Cones,
8 x Rails, 24 Cones, 1 x Stop & Go or Temporary Traffic signals.
Candidates will be expected to provide their own PPE.
All equipment to be in good working order.
