♻️ Materials Rehandler Training – Stay Safe While Moving More
From construction sites to waste and recycling centres, materials rehandlers are essential machines used to sort, stack, and move large volumes of materials efficiently. But these powerful machines demand skill, awareness, and proper training to operate safely and legally.
At Kentra Training, we deliver professional Materials Rehandler Training to ensure your operators are fully trained and confident to use these machines effectively—and in line with health and safety regulations.
🔄 What Is a Materials Rehandler?
A materials rehandler is a type of wheeled or tracked machine equipped with hydraulic arms and a grab, clamshell bucket, or magnet to move loose or bulky material. They’re commonly used in:
Recycling and waste management
Scrap yards and timber yards
Ports and quarries
Bulk material handling and transfer stations
They look similar to excavators but are optimised for handling rather than digging—often with a raised cab for better visibility and longer reach. Many, many years ago they were a variation on the 360 Excavator assessment, in more recent years they have been given their own category for training.
⚠️ Why Is Training Essential?
Because these machines operate in high-risk environments—often around other workers, moving vehicles, and hazardous materials—operator error can lead to serious incidents.
Training is vital for:
Safe movement of materials
Load handling and stability
Machine maintenance and inspection
Compliance with PUWER 1998 and LOLER 1998
Reducing downtime and costly damage
Improving productivity and site safety
