What we do – Part 1 Lift Truck Training
Hello! It’s so nice to get back to a routine again after the long Bank Holiday (even though we are secretly wishing away the days till we get to the May Day Holiday). But speaking of routine, the idea for this blog post came to me on my morning dog walk. I thought it would be a good idea to do a couple of summary posts breaking down what we do into smaller chunks.

Lift Truck Training Ratios
The Lift Truck training course duration is dependent upon the number of candidates and their experience operating the machine.
- Novice candidates : 5 days for 3 candidates. This course is for candidates who have never been tested before, includes instructor presentation and full operator training. (4 days for 2 novices or 3 days for 1 to 1 tuition)
- Refresher and Test : 1 day for 3 candidates. : This course is for candidates who have been tested before but need a bit of remedial tuition before being retested. Includes instructor presentation as above, then remedial tuition if the candidates have any bad habits etc. whilst conducting the practical assessment
- Experienced Worker Tests : 1 day for 4 candidates. This course is for experienced workers and does not include any training – this is just testing only – no tuition should be required for experienced workers.
Other Associated Courses
We also offer a number of associated courses, such as becoming a Fork Lift Truck Instructor. Do you have what it takes to teach others how to operate a Lift Truck? Follow the link to find out more.
N036 Fork Lift Truck Supervisor Awareness
This is one of the new awareness courses introduced by NPORS for supervisors, associated courses also cover Plant and MEWP Supervisor Awareness.
Do you move Fork Lifts but not operate them in a lifting capacity? Maybe the plant mover course is a better option for you. This course was developed with maintenance workers or deliver people in mind, where you need to move a lift truck but not use if for stacking etc.
Does your lift truck have a registration number plate? if so a vehicle marshal course would be useful when giving directions. This course covers any vehicle or machinery with a registration plate.
How we can help
We appreciate how complicated it can be to try to arrange training, I’m Emma I’ve been with Kentra for 18 years and still have to look up ratios and variations as all the courses are different. So please, drop us a line, get in touch we are happy to discuss all the options, we like nothing more than to get a timetable drawn up on a spreadsheet to help our customers organise what’s needed.
If you would like more information about the courses we offer, click HERE for a link to our brochure and let us help you though.
